• I thought of it as the boy is holding the popcorn so he is multiplies by the popcorn over the shoes (so a fraction).
The popcorn 5(4/10) is 2 so multiply that by 2 as there is only one popcorn on it's right instead of two so it is half of the 4 that the two popcorns represent. 2 times 2 is 4 plus half of a pair of shoes is 5. Therefore I got 9 as my answer.

• In the last step, since thier are no parenthesis, why can it not be (5+19)×2 In stead of what u assumed 5+(19×2)?

Lion Ness July 13, 2020 5:28 pm
• Tell me how you're supposed to know that shoes are 10? This is so ridiculously stupid

Lion Ness July 13, 2020 5:28 pm
• This is ridiculous. There is no one answer. It purely depends on how everyone interprets the images, in particular, the boy in the last equation.
Is the last boy a fraction because the cones are over the shoes? The cones are on top of each other on the second equation, which could apply multiply (2×2).
No point stressing on something subjective.

• I mean, technically if one shoe equals 5 then the first line would actually be (5×5)+(5×5)+(5×5) and if one popcorn equals 2 the second line should be written (2×2)+(2×2)+5

drschplatt July 13, 2020 5:28 pm
• I finally got it.

(1×10)+(1×10)+(1×10)=30
5+15+(1×10)=20
(1×4)+(1×4)+5=13
1+(5+(1×1)+(1×10))x1=17
This assumes the variables are arranged smallest on the left to largest on the right, the conglomerate picture of the boy/popcorn/shoes is read from top to bottom, and the picture of the single popcorn is the variable on the left with a value of one.

Carmen Acker July 13, 2020 5:28 pm
• Answer is 405, without the addition operator, default is multiplication. X=Shoe, Y=person, Z=cone. Problem should read; x+2x2zy(z); x=5, y=5, z=2, which would be; 5+[(2*5)(2*2)5]2 = 405
"only for geniuses" lol, this is basic algebra.

Shoes value 10 + boy popcorn band shoes value 19 * popcorn value 2
But We have to apply BODMAS, then 19*2+10=48…..
So 48 is the correct answer

DURGAM GOUTHAM July 13, 2020 5:28 pm
• There is no way to solve this picture puzzle without knowing if he's wearing his original shoes within the larger pair. (The first few images of the boy show him in a small pair of black footwear. We don't know if he's still wearing them in the last part of the problem, and we don't know what value to associate with the black shoes if he's NOT wearing them.)
